Tahitian Pearl Pendant

Pearls are formed when a piece of sand or other irritant finds its way into an oyster. The oyster begins to secrete a smooth hard crystalline substance called nacre around the irritant to protect itself. As long as the irritant remains, the oyster will continue to produce this nacre, layer upon layer. It will take several years to produce a 3 to 4mm pearl.

The Tahitian Pearl is an organic gem formed from the black lip oyster (Pinctada margaritifera). These pearls derive their name from the fact they are primarily cultivated around the islands of French Polynesia, around Tahiti. The most valuable of these are of the darker variety, as the naturally darker tones of the Tahitian pearls is a unique quality among pearls.

Cubic Zirconia or CZ is actually a very rare mineral in nature called zirconium dioxide. Most cubic zirconia is created as a diamond replacement. It is prized for its fiery brilliance, it very closely resembles a diamond. Not everyone can afford a big diamond, but CZ makes it easier for us to all add some “bling” to our sense of style and fashion. In fact, many CZ stones are more brilliant than their diamond counterparts. CZ has come into its own as a diamond replacement, and a fine fashion accessory.

This piece contains an authentic pearl, and no two are exactly alike. The item you receive may have slight variations from the one photographed.

Exposure to water and other chemicals, such as shampoos or perfumes, will damage it over time. Avoid spraying harsh cleaners and perfumes on the stone as it is very porous and these items may discolor or damage the polish on the stone.
If you polish the jewellery, avoid polishing the stone itself. A silver-cleaning dip should never be used with this piece.
