Fossil Sea Urchins and Sand Dollars

Fossil Sea Urchins and Sand Dollars

Similar in appearance, this collection features fossil sea urchins and fossil sand dollars of various types.

The species of sea urchin we carry was abundant in the Cretaceous era when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, aged between 65 and 135 million years ago and found in Madagascar.

Fossil sand dollars are found in many different locations around the world, but each location will have a slightly different looking specimen. We have two types of sand dollar, the encope californicus: 6 million to 15 million years old, from Baja, California and the scutella faujasi: about 50 million years old, from Dinan (Brittany) France.
