Agate is a relatively common stone that may be found around the world. Agate is a member of the chalcedony/ quartz family of stones. Agate comes in hundreds of different varieties and colours, including green moss agate, yellow moss agate, tree agate, carnelian agate, blue lace agate, banded agate, crazy lace agate, rosetta agate, Botswana agate, laguna agate, plume agate, green agate, plus many others, it would be impossible to name them all.
Agates are believed to have been formed millions of years ago during volcanic eruptions. The volcanic lava flows left cavities filled with gas. As the flows cooled, these cavities allowed for mineral bearing solutions to enter and the combinations of these solutions along with heat, pressure and millions of years allowed the agate to form. Agate will resemble a potato on the outside, the stone must then be cut or sliced to see the beautiful colors inside. Agate is said to strengthen the body and mind and when worn will give the wearer a sense of courage. It is also said to be a powerful healer.
Enhydro is the term for a rare type of mineral that contains water inside. Enhydro minerals form in volcanic stones, such as agates, geodes, and various types of crystals, such as amethyst or quartz. Enhydros are formed when water rich in silica percolates through volcanic rock, forming layers of deposited minerals. As these layers build up, the mineral forms a cavity in which the water becomes trapped. The cavity is then layered with the silica rich water, forming its shell.
Many enhydro specimens contain an air bubble that may be visible within the water inclusion. In some cases, shining a light through the specimen may make the inclusion easier to observe. Some enhydro stones may also produce a sound when gently shaken, depending on the size and characteristics of the natural cavity. Because enhydro minerals are naturally formed, each specimen is unique and these features can vary.
Enhydro minerals are believed to embody the energies of balance and transformation, as they are formed through the combined forces of fire, earth, and water. They are said to support those navigating change and adapting to new circumstances. As enhydro minerals also carry the metaphysical properties traditionally associated with their host mineral, they are believed to amplify those energies.
Enhydro pieces are prized by collectors due to their rarity.
NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRINK THE WATER INSIDE YOUR ENHYDRO MINERAL. THIS WATER IS OF UNKNOWN ORIGINS AND MAY CONTAIN HEAVY METALS OR OTHER TOXINS.
