Rainbow Agate Heart on Stand

These gemstone specimens boast a metallic plated finish, caused when the stone is plated with a metal and plastic mix. To start, the stone of choice is selected, then cut and polished until it is at a “finished” state. These are then treated via an electrostatic process whereby the stones are put into a vacuum and charged. Heat is applied. The plating material of choice is then put into the vacuum and it "clings" to the stone. When charged and treated in a vacuum environment will combine with the stone, giving it an entirely unique quality of iridescence or colour.
