Rainbow Moonstone, Rose Quartz, Amethyst, and Garnet Multistone Ring

Rainbow moonstone is a variety of feldspar and flashes in a variety of colours when it is turned to different angles. The most sought after colour is blue, which comes in a range of gorgeous shades.    

Moonstone is a stone that has fascinated man for thousands of years. Many ancient peoples believed moonstone had magical powers, and that these powers were amplified at times of a full moon. Travelers carried moonstone for protection at night. The ancient Romans believed moonstone was a stone of love, revered by Diana, the moon goddess. Diana could endow one with love, wealth, victory and wisdom. These same qualities were attributed to moonstone. Moonstone was carried or worn by the ancient Romans.

Rose quartz is a pink colored semi-precious gemstone. The pink color is caused by traces of manganese or titanium and will range from a light to dark pink color. The stone makes beautiful jewellery once it has been cut and polished. It is also used in massive form to make candle holders, and it may be carved into unusual shapes by expert craftsmen.

Rose quartz may be found in British Columbia, Canada but is better known from other sources around the world.

Amethyst: A favorite material of ancient cultures, amethyst has endured the ages as one of man's most prized possessions. Amethyst ranges in color from a very light lavender to a deep violet shade of purple sometimes with slight hues of pink and red. Banded amethyst or cape amethyst may have lines of agate or chalcedony running through the amethyst. This may also be called chevron amethyst. Amethyst is found worldwide and has the distinction of being the birthstone for February and the official gemstone of the province of Ontario.

Garnet is most recognized as a fiery red stone (called pyrope garnet) and as January's birthstone. It can be found in a variety of colors including tsavorite (green garnet), uvarovite (green druse crystals), rhodolite (pink), almandine (rusty-brown, orange), blue, and other colors.

Canadian sources of garnet include Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia although good gemstone quality material is more difficult to come by. Worldwide sources include Brazil, Africa and Czechoslovakia.

Exposure to water and other chemicals, such as lotions or perfumes, will damage it over time. If you polish the jewellery, avoid polishing the stone itself. A silver-cleaning dip should never be used with this piece.
