Obsidian is a form of volcanic glass, it has been used as glass by ancient cultures. Some call it smoky tears or Apache Tears, as it is said to resemble a tear when held up to the light.

Obsidian is said to reduce stress and dispel negativity when worn. A protective talisman through the ages, obsidian may also help you feel safe. In mediation, obsidian represents the root chakra, and is considered to be a base that you need to begin with on your path to enlightenment by developing and maintaining balance within your first chakra. Some believe obsidian may be effective in improving blood flow and in pain management.
