Jasper is a family of stones that comes in many different varieties and colours. With over 2000 known varieties, the Jasper family of stones continues to grow and diversify with each new discovery. Jasper may be found in many countries of the world including Canada.
Dalmatian jasper and leopard skin jasper are very similar in appearance. Both are a creamy golden shade of jasper, and contain other mineral inclusions. In dalmatian jasper, this inclusion is iron movie, tourmaline, or another black mineral, whereas leopardskin jasper contains a unique orbicular growth pattern that mixes various colours of agate and mineral oxides or organic materials, that creates a distinctive leopard skin banding. Both stones boast unique colours and patterns, and no two pieces look exactly alike.
