Blue Onyx is a natural gemstone. A type of layered chalcedony, this stunning stone boasts soothing shades of blue. It is formed through the layering of chalcedony and quartz, which may leave a subtle banding pattern on the stone, although most blue onyx specimens are a consistent translucent blue. This stone is also known as “Paraiba Onyx”, after the unique area where it is found.
