Rose Quartz, Amethyst and Mystic Topaz Pendant

Rose quartz is a pink colored semi-precious gemstone. The pink color is caused by traces of manganese or titanium and will range from a light to dark pink color. The stone makes beautiful jewellery once it has been cut and polished. It is also used in massive form to make candle holders, and it may be carved into unusual shapes by expert craftsmen.

Rose quartz may be found in British Columbia, Canada but is better known from other sources around the world.
 
Some believe the stone can cool a hot temper and enhance self-confidence and creativity. It is also said to help clear stored anger, resentment, guilt and fear and will reduce stress and tension. It is also worn for meditation purposes.

Amethyst A favorite material of ancient cultures, amethyst has endured the ages as one of man's most prized possessions.  Amethyst ranges in color from a very light lavender to a deep violet shade of purple sometimes with slight hues of pink and red. Banded amethyst or cape amethyst may have lines of agate or chalcedony running through the amethyst. This may also be called chevron amethyst.  

The main Canadian source of amethyst is near Thunder Bay, Ontario where mining has taken place intermittently over the last one hundred years.  Scientists believe the amethyst find near Thunder Bay to be over one billion years old.  Amethyst is found worldwide and has the distinction of being the birthstone for February and the official gemstone of the province of Ontario. 

In the Middle Ages it was believed that amethyst would protect one from drunkenness and protect crops from evil spirits, blight and locusts. Some believe that amethyst has calming and protective qualities and that wearing amethyst will increase inspiration and intuition. 

Mystic Topaz is an enhanced clear topaz. In order to create it, clear topaz is first cut then treated with titanium on the back of the stone with a permanent bond to give it unique kaleidoscope colours, prominently greens, blues, and purples. Since this process only affects the surface of the stone, special care should be given to your piece.

The ancient Greeks believed that topaz could increase the strength of the wearer and even provide invisibility in desperate times. In traditional Indian belief systems, topaz was said to unlock the Throat Chakra, which facilitates communication and self expression. Therefore, topaz is thought to be beneficial to artists, writers, public speakers and others who are concerned with self expression.
