Larimar, Rainbow Moonstone and Blue Topaz Pendant

Larimar is a type of blue pectolite. Pectolite containing copper is known as larimar. This lovely pale blue gemstone is becoming more difficult to get. The white and blue patterns, sometimes speckled with black spots, are sought after by collectors. Gem cutters are careful to select the stone and cut carefully to select the most amazing color combinations of the larimar.
Larimar is a volcanic stone, formed over millions of years in volcanic "chimneys" in the Dominican Republic.

It is believed to promote openness, broaden perceptions and stimulate brain activity. It is also believed to help with problems of the chest, throat or head.

Rainbow moonstone is a variety of feldspar and flashes in a variety of colours when it is turned to different angles. The most sought after colour is blue, which comes in a range of gorgeous shades.

Moonstone is a stone that has fascinated man for thousands of years. Many ancient peoples believed moonstone had magical powers, and that these powers were amplified at times of a full moon.  Travelers carried moonstone for protection at night.  The ancient Romans believed moonstone was a stone of love, revered by Diana, the moon goddess.  Diana could endow one with love, wealth, victory and wisdom.  These same qualities were attributed to moonstone.  Moonstone was carried or worn by the ancient Romans.

It is believed to help balance yin and yang, bring out feelings and protect love. It may also be helpful in eliminating tunnel vision and helping you achieve your goals.

Topaz has been prized as a gemstone throughout the ages, and comes in a variety of colours, including yellow, brownish-yellow, pink, green, orange, colorless and blue.  

Topaz stones are almost always faceted. This is done to show off the intense colors. A nice topaz stone will really sparkle.

Blue topaz may be found along the western coast of North America but the primary source remains South America and Russia. It may enhance self confidence and may help one to gain wisdom and insight more easily.

These gemstones require special care - exposure to water and other chemicals, such as lotions or perfumes, will damage them over time. If you polish the jewellery, avoid polishing the gemstones themselves. A silver-cleaning dip should never be used with this piece.
