Have you heard about Tangerine Quartz? By now most of you have heard about Quartz—a timeless classic known for its healing and amplifying properties, but what is Tangerine Quartz?!

Tangerine Quartz, known for its orange, or Tangerine (hence the name!) colouring, is a variety of Quartz which gains its distinctive colouring with the help of the mineral, Hematite.

When Hematite, a form of Iron Oxide, grows in close proximity to Clear Quartz (a form of Silicon Dioxide), these two minerals mix to create something magical—Tangerine Quartz! Hematite will mix with ground water, and the Iron Oxides will seep into the structure of the Quartz, or bond with the exterior of the crystal, and then the magic happens—clear Quartz is transformed into beautiful, sunny Tangerine Quartz!

The depth of colour may range from a lighter, subtle orange all the way to a deep rust red/orange—it all depends on the prevalence of the Hematite in the area.
