Champagne jade is a type of nephrite jade best described as a soft, creamy coloured stone. It is beige to yellow in appearance, with white, grey, brown, and blue to green tones on occasion. It is a sought after variety of jade, this colour of jade has been carved and used in jewellery in the Orient for centuries. The lack of green colour is caused by the absence of iron in the mineral tremolite, one of the components of nephrite jade.

Champagne jade is found between Whistler and Lillooet, in British Columbia, Canada. It can also be found in the Canadian Rocky Mountains along the gold rush trails made famous years ago.

It is an ideal stone for producing carvings as no two pieces are coloured exactly alike. It is also very beautiful as a jewellery stone. Every piece of champagne jade has a lot of character.
