Seymchan is a pallasite meteorite found in the dry bed of the river Hekandue, a left tributary of river Jasačnaja in the Magadan district, Russia, near the settlement of Seymchan, in June 1967.
This piece of Seymchan Meteorite has stunning Widmanstatten patterns, which are stress fractures formed in the ultra cold vacuum of space and by collision of meteors in space. The pattern is changed again after experiencing extreme heat, pressure and velocity upon entering the atmosphere. Some believe Seymchan meteorite comes from the inside of a planet that was destroyed before being fully formed. Whether you see this Seymchan meteorite as a metaphor for creating something beautiful out of stress or as a piece of what could have been a planet, this beautiful piece is sure to spark discussion.
