Larimar, Herkimer Diamond and Blue Topaz Pendant

Larimar is a type of blue pectolite, which is formed containing copper instead of calcium. The white and blue patterns are sometimes speckled with black spots and other inclusions. Rediscovered by a Spaniard in 1974, the name Larimar comes from combining his daughters name Larissa, and the Spanish word for ocean, Mar. This lovely pale blue gemstone is becoming more difficult to get, making each piece a unique collectors item. Larimar is a wonderful meditation stone. Its soothing blue and white hues calm the mind and may help you find inner peace.

Herkimer diamonds are not actually diamonds, but double-terminated quartz crystals discovered within exposed outcrops of dolomite in and out Herkimer County, New York and the Mohawk River Valley. The "diamond" in their name is due to both their clarity and natural faceting. Double terminated quartz crystals may be found in sites all around the world, but only those mined in Herkimer County can be given the name "Herkimer Diamond". Herkimer diamonds are the most powerful of all quartz crystals. As most Herkimer Diamonds are double terminated, meaning that they have two pointed ends.

Topaz has been prized as a gemstone throughout the ages, and comes in a variety of colours, including yellow, brownish-yellow, pink, green, orange, colorless and blue.  Blue topaz may be found along the western coast of North America but the primary source remains South America and Russia.

Exposure to water and other chemicals, such as shampoos or perfumes, will damage it over time. If you polish the jewellery, avoid polishing the stone itself. A silver-cleaning dip should never be used with this piece.
