Crab fossils are generally all preserved in rounded clay nodules. These nodules protect and preserve the fossil inside. Scientists believe ancient crabs behaved much the same as their modern counterparts.
The Harpactocarcinus Puntulatus 3-D crabs come in a variety of sizes, they are generally between 35 million to 55 million years old. The body, claws, and legs are often well preserved.
