Bismuth Egg

Bismuth is an unusual mineral crystal that occurs only rarely in nature. When found in nature, bismuth is often massive, with little crystal structure. The massive form of bismuth can be found with gold, silver, tin, nickel, and lead ores. In Canada, bismuth is found in conjunction with silver ores in Cobalt, Ontario and sometimes near the Great Bear Lake in the Northwest Territory.

This bismuth is laboratory grown and thus extraordinary crystal structures are produced.  Bismuth begins in a liquid state, and as the solution solidifies, these unique crystal structures begin to form. These structures appear like tiny castles or futuristic cityscapes. Blue is the most common colour, but on occasion other colours are produced, depending on minor adjustments during the growing process. Bismuth may also be poured into molds to create specific shapes, such as into the negative of an ammonite fossil or into a cleaned egg shell. 

Carved eggs and spheres are popular items in home décor. They are also gaining popularity as items that are being used for meditation. They are nice to hold and feel, and are quickly becoming very collectible. 

Historically, eggs have been collected throughout history. Among the European aristocracy it became fashionable to give away as Easter presents artistically crafted luxury eggs. This tradition started in the 16th century and has continued through to today. In Russia, the fashion of artistically crafted eggs attained highest perfection in the creations of the goldsmith Faberge, appointed by the Russian Royal Court, with his famous "Imperial Easter eggs" for the Czar's family. The collector's passion for eggs from different materials, from undecorated gemstone eggs to large egg creations, has lasted until the present day, and there are still many egg collectors and admirers in the various cultures of our world. 

The egg symbolizes fertility.  The egg shape symbolizes the first step that we must complete in order to achieve the realization of our goals and dreams. It also symbolizes things that have no beginning and no end. In meditation, one should hold the egg in your hand. Many believe they have a special, comforting feeling. Collectors sometimes collect individual eggs, and sometimes collect large egg collections in “nests” or baskets

Bismuth relieves symptoms of isolation, both spiritually and emotionally. It stimulates energy, improves focus and encourages teamwork, making it particularly useful in group dynamics.

This stone requires special care - exposure to water and other chemicals, such as cleaning products or aerosols, will damage it over time. If you polish the stone, use a dry cloth only, or an air duster that does not contain any disinfectant or other chemicals.
