Craspedites all come from a relatively new find of fossil shells. The fossil is most often grey in color, sometimes with fine black suture lines on it.
Sometimes this unusual fossil will be found with naturally occurring color on the shells. The colors range from blue to green with reds, yellvc ows and other unusual color combinations. This fossil is often very beautiful and very rare. On craspedites the outside ribs on the ammonite are thicker than those of kashpurites. Kashpurites has fine rib lines on the surface of the shell which are very similar looking but more delicate than craspedites. The garniericeras resembles the other shell types but the wavy suture pattern on the shell gives the garniericeras a unique appearance.
The three fossil types are all between 135 million and 195 million years old. A lot of time and effort goes into cleaning these pieces for display.
